Guided imagery techniques are most successful if you already imagine the situation or event as if it has already occurred. Look at it in the recent past – feel content with the outcome and the resolution of the event. Guided imagery is fantastic at reprogramming the subconscious mind, which proceeds to make changes in the physical body. The mind and body work hand in hand to overcome illness and disease. Following are some wonderful guided imagery exercises for overcoming cancer and maintaining a positive, stress-free state of mind.
Lie down in a quiet and peaceful place. Choose somewhere where you feel completely relaxed and totally at ease. This is usually a place with good vibrations – near the ocean, in your backyard, your own bedroom, in the mountains, close to a waterfall or somewhere special to you. It is usually more relaxing to lie flat on your back, although some people may find it more comfortable to be sitting cross legged or in a lotus position. We are all very different. No one position is more perfect than the other as long as your muscles and mind are comfortable, without any external or internal strains.
Breathe in and out very slowly through your nose and imagine yourself becoming more and more relaxed with each breath. On the out breath, imagine your body and muscles and skin and internal organs relaxing more and more. With each breath, imagine your body falling deeper towards the ground as you become more and more relaxed. You can feel your breath becoming slower as you relax.
With every breath out, your mind and body becomes more relaxed and heavy, falling into the earth in total ease. Release all of your thoughts, empty your mind. On every out breath imagine your thoughts flowing out of you with complete ease and on every in breath imagine a beautiful golden or white light entering your body through your nose. Continue to do this until your mind feels empty and clear.
It may take some time to reach this comfortable and relaxed state. When you do, you can begin imagining the following positive imagery to help eliminate harmful cancer cells from your body:
Visualize your body’s cells working like a wonderful army, all in unison, all working hand in hand. Each cell is like a small person or an ant marching around, passing commands on to the next cell (person). All of the army of people (cells) are happy and strong, each content with their own job, each needed by the body. Imagine your white blood cells as an army of white-uniformed people. These are the body’s natural defenses, walking around with mops, brooms and cleaning utensils, cleaning up any dirty, murky patches in the body, known as cancer cells.
If you know where your cancer is, imagine the white army of white blood cells marching towards the cancer cells and with all of their strength and energy, mopping them up, cleaning them and eliminating them. With every stroke of their brushes the dirty cancer cells disappear, leaving a shiny, healthy surface glowing with white light. The white army of people (white blood cells) is smiling, laughing, content and happy. As you look around, you cannot see any dirty patches anymore – everywhere you look, all you can see is clean, white surfaces. Try to do this as often as possible, even during chemotherapy and radiation treatment. What you imprint on your mind leaves an imprint on your subconscious setting up a beautiful, positive outcome of perfect health and happiness. This is also a great preventative against cancer.
