Kombucha has been used throughout Asia and Russia for centuries. It is often referred to throughout the world as ‘The Champagne of Life’, ‘Gift of Life from the Sea’, ‘Champion of Longevity’ and in China as the ‘Divine Che’.

A ‘tea’ is made by fermenting the mushroom for one week in a mixture of water, sugar and green or black tea, with apple cider vinegar or previously made tea added to it. Kept in this mixture, the mushroom reproduces, and the ‘daughter mushrooms’ can then be used to produce more tea. Kombucha tea contains many different nutrients and other health-promoting substances. It is a natural energy booster and detoxifier, and may also help to slow the natural ageing process and fight cancer, AIDS and multiple sclerosis.

Biochemists ascribe many of Kombucha’s therapeutic effects to 1-lactic acid and glucuronic acid. Lactic acid is also found in fermented foods such as sauerkraut and yogurt. Lactic acid activates cell respiration, increases oxygen in the blood and thus increases energy. It also balances blood pH (in acidity) and mildly stimulates liver function. Lactic acid is lacking in the connective tissue of cancer patients and its presence in large amounts inhibits the development of cancer.

Glucuronic acid plays a significant role in the removal of metabolic waste, toxins, chemicals and drugs, as well as the regulation of lactic acid metabolism. Kombucha tea is not a cure-all. However, it has generated amazing testimonials of improved health and well-being from all corners of the globe.

Maitake

Maitake is another Japanese mushroom recognized throughout the world for its amazing healing properties. Maitake mushrooms stimulate the body’s immune system by activating macrophages, natural killer cells and cytotoxic T-cells, thereby inhibiting tumour growth. The major active ingredient responsible for healing is Beta 1.6 Glucan. It is capable of suppressing many viruses and improving and stimulating various aspects of the immune system.
